The internet is slamming a woman who left her boyfriend with cancer while she went on a trip with friends in a new viral post.
Published to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole forum, a woman under the anonymous username u/aitaa780 shared her story in order to get the opinions of the "AITA" community. The popular post has over 5,000 upvotes and 1,000 comments.
The Redditor began her story by explaining that she and her friends had planned to go on a "girls' trip" but then invited their significant others along with them.
"This vacation was a long time planning and I was really looking forward to it, as have the others. A few weeks ago my bf said that he doesn't really want to go. I tried to convince him otherwise because our hotel, activities etc were already booked but he wouldn't budge, and said that some of them still have free cancellation and he'd pay for the ones that don't. Okay, his choice, I was still planning to go with my friends," the original poster (OP) wrote.

I told him that I've really been looking forward to this trip and if he's not going, that's fine but I still want to. We had a bit of an argument over this, and I ended up going, I had a great time. Since I've come back though, my bf's been giving me the cold shoulder," she continued.
Replying to a comment, the OP explained that her boyfriend was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma. She said that it wasn't advanced and his chemo didn't start until she returned from vacation. He has been worried about it and she wrote she's been trying to help him through it. She reassured the readers that he wasn't alone while she was away as he has family that is local.

What is Ewing sarcoma?
Ewing (pronounced YOO-ing) sarcoma is a rare type of cancer found in or around the bones. According to the Mayo Clinic, it typically begins in the leg bones and pelvis but can happen in any bone. Some symptoms of Ewing sarcoma include bone pain, tiredness, fever and unintentional weight loss.
Ewing sarcoma is the second-most common cancer that affects children and teens. Per hopkinsmedicine.org, 225 children and young adults (ages 10 to 20) are diagnosed with the disease. Ewing sarcoma is rare in adults. For localized (stays in one part of the body) Ewing sarcoma, the five-year survival rate is 70 percent. However, if the cancer should go metastatic, or spread to another part of the body, the five-year survival rate drops to 15 to 30 percent.

Typical treatment of Ewing sarcoma includes chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery to remove the tumor, possible amputation of the affected area, rehabilitation and antibiotics.
Newsweek has written many articles on the topic of cancer including how cancer cells thrive in the body's "sweet" spots and a blood test that can diagnose cancer years before symptoms begin.
Redditors Response
U/snewton_8 wrote, "So this guy you love has been told he has a cancer which has a 15% - 70% 5 year survival rate depending on if it's localized or metastatic. And you don't understand why he didn't want to go on vacation or be without you during this new diagnosis?
"It's also understandable that you may not want to be there for him and are looking for an out so you don't have to be involved with a man who is possibly going to die of cancer. Either way, because OP left out a very important part of the situation in effort to hide the real reason he wanted OP to be with him -OR- why OP didn't want to be home with him, I'm going with [you're the a**hole]," they continued. The commenter received the top comment with over 14,000 upvotes.
"[You're the a**hole], I'm sure you deliberately left out the fact that he was just diagnosed with cancer in your post because you knew it would make you the [a**hole]," u/DelurkingtoComment pointed out.
U/YesterdaySalt9464 explained, "100000% [You're the a**hole] . Your boyfriend found out be has cancer, and you're more worried about having fun with your friends??? [What the f**k]. Yeah, sure, you were looking forward to it, but I'm sure he was too. And also looking forward to NOT HAVING CANCER. His whole world was turned upside down, and you couldn't sacrifice a road trip to support him."
