WHO’s World Health Statistics 2026 report warns that improvements in health are not advancing fast enough to meet global goals for 2030.
The report documents progress, including a 40 percent reduction in new HIV infections between 2010 and 2024 and fewer people requiring interventions against neglected tropical diseases. Coverage of essential health services has also improved.
However, financial hardship linked to healthcare remains widespread, and gaps in timely data make problems harder to track. WHO calls for stronger health systems and better information so that gains in prevention and treatment can reach more people and withstand financial and other pressures.
