The Chinese Academy of Sciences unveiled ScienceOne 100 in Beijing on April 28, bringing a group of specialist artificial intelligence models into a shared system for scientific research.

Built around the ScienceOne foundation model, the system covers eight disciplines, including materials science, astronomy, biology and environmental science. Its functions combine literature analysis, evaluation of possible research directions and tools for building research agents.

According to a Xinhua report published by the academy, the agent platform offers more than 2,000 research tools. The system has been applied at more than 50 CAS institutes in over 100 research scenarios, ranging from materials discovery to marine forecasting.

The launch illustrates how scientific AI is expanding beyond individual applications toward connected workflows that support several stages of research.
