Internet users were touched by the friendship between two dogs which formed during a short vacation.

Story text
A couple took their dog away and every day, they got the sweetest surprise visit. Lauren, 30, from Manchester, England, was in Scotland on vacation with her partner, somewhere they go every year with their golden retriever, Lucy. To their delight, the Airbnb host's dog, Bertie, and their own dog, Lucy, struck up a beautiful relationship. "Last year, Lucy was only a puppy she was around six-seven months old so Bertie didn't really take her on, he's three years older than her," Lauren told Newsweek. "But this year they definitely got along, he was with us all his spare time when he wasn't at doggy day care."

Lauren posted a sweet video of the interactions between the two dogs as Bertie showed up and waited at their cabin every day, hoping to play with Lucy. The video, which has over 600,000 views, shows Bertie patiently waiting for Lucy to come outside and the two joyously running around in the quaint countryside setting. "It was really sweet to see them both together," Lauren said. "We felt really sad to bring Lucy home! Airbnb saw our video too and they've sent us a voucher for our stay next year which is really kind of them! They said to reunite them both." Golden retrievers are a popular dog breed for those who want to adopt or buy a pet. In the U.K., over 10,000 golden retrievers were registered in 2023. In the U.S., golden retrievers are one of the most popular breeds for pet owners, the American Kennel Club reports. Traveling with pets is an ever-growing trend for people across the world, including the U.S. Eighty-eight percent of dog owners traveled with their pets over the last year, 68 percent of those traveled by plane, according to The American Pet Products Association. Meanwhile, 55 percent of American dog owners plan their travels around the pets. Internet users loved the interaction between Lucy and her friend Bertie, with hundreds of people taking to the comments section of the video with their reactions. "As someone who knows Bertie personally this warmed my heart seeing him on my fyp [For You Page]. He's such a good boy," said Alice Nicol. Jo commented: "I am literally crying at them galloping in the field together." "I'm afraid I need annual updates, for my wellbeing," @Lorena6656 joked. Taylor Blank said: "Hallmark just found their next movie." "So basically after seeing this, I'll never rent an Airbnb without a concierge dog," said @megandmickey57.
