Imagine you're on a plane, minding your own business and suddenly you're hit in the face by the passenger beside you. You'd be fuming, right? One passenger who found himself in this scenario has been praised for his sweet response to the situation. The hilariously disastrous moment was captured in a video shared by @barig21, which has amassed 3.4 million views since it was posted on June 12. The clip shows a man on a plane looking into a camera and suddenly being hit in the face with a seatbelt buckle from the left side of the screen. A person next to him is heard saying: "Oh god, I am so sorry," as they place their hand on his head. The man is shown with his hand on his face before saying, "It's OK," and laughing it off. Accidental run-ins with a neighbor on a plane are bound to happen, as air travel shows no signs of slowing down. Travel is set to reach "record highs" this year, with global tourism spending expected to reach $2 trillion, according to a December 2023 survey by Euromonitor International, the market research firm. The International Air Transport Association reported in May that total passenger demand in April was up 11 percent compared with April 2023. The IATA reported in January that global total air traffic was at 99.1 percent of November 2019 (pre-pandemic) levels in November 2023.

'So Sweet'

The man's neighbor in the viral video is heard saying, "Oh my god," and he replies, "I've been hit harder; it's okay," while trying to contain his laughter. "You're fine, I promise," he tells the neighbor while continuing to laugh before the clip ends. TikTok users have applauded the man's response to the incident. "Omg that'd be something I'd do. Get so fixed on getting settled that the buckle would go flying. You're so sweet to laugh. I know she felt so horrible," a commenter named Joie said.

"You can tell a lot about a person when they get clocked out of nowhere, hard, and respond with kindness. Good man here," said @passenger710. I love your laugh.. and to say you've been hit harder had me spit my coffee," @mommiedj1234 commented. "What an angel of a man, sitting there like bam and still remaining kind and courteous instead of cursing her out," @Nats111 wrote. Newsweek reached out to the original poster for comment via TikTok.
