Frustrated that you're always planning the itinerary for your travels, while your partner shows no interest until all the work is done?
Well, one woman found herself in this scenario with boyfriend deciding to read her meticulously devised five-week itinerary just one day before they head off.
She captured the moment in a viral video shared from her TikTok account @tahvec, where it has garnered over 320,000 views since it was posted on June 4.
A message overlaid on the clip says: "POV: 24 hours before we leave for Europe, your travel princess boyfriend reads our 5 week itinerary for the first time that took me 7 months to plan."
The footage shows the boyfriend on a couch, studying the multiple-page itinerary. According to hashtags shared with the post, their trip includes stops in London, Paris and Italy.
A caption shared with the post reads: " 'It's a lot to take in' he says..."
However frustrating and one-sided the planning process before it may be, traveling as a couple can be beneficial for the relationship.
A December 2019 study of couples in the U.S., which was published in the Journal of Travel Research, found that "shared experiences during vacations" was positively associated with couples' "day-to-day functioning at home."
The study showed that those who "engaged in higher levels of shared experiences during their vacations, such as effective communication, showing affection, or experiencing new things together, reported higher levels of couple flexibility and cohesion following their vacations, regardless of the number of vacations."
'Nightmare'
TikTok users were shocked by the scene in the viral clip, and several could relate to the girlfriend's frustration.
Destinee said: "I'm sorry 5 weeks and he is just now wondering what all you will be doing. I'm have a anxiety attack for him. How did he not want to know."
Sarah noted: "You lucky he read it before. Mine was asking what the plan was whilst we were already on holiday."
Zerkbmxmum agreed, saying: "He did well to even read it 24 hours before. My husband would get in the plane and still have no idea." The original poster replied: "I'm seeing a trend here."
Black giraffe of Ixia noted: "sorry but a partner not bothering to take part in research and planning and leaving it all to the person is a red flag to me."
Switch said: "That would really annoy me and user4388613284722 wrote "Honestly this sounds like a nightmare."
Some were critical of the girlfriend's meticulous planning for a trip that's meant to be a vacation.
Johnnydebravo69 noted "7 months to plan 5 weeks is ridiculous," while Hail Dubay said "I hate plans like that."
Agnes Koppandi noted: "Girl drop the itenirary and just have fun. Letting the day take you where it wants is way more enjoyable than a damn schedule."
