Colombian airline Avianca has announced a new flight route connecting Texas to the country's capital, Bogota.
The new route between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and El Dorado International Airport in Bogota will begin operations on May 26, 2025, the airline revealed. The route will operate four times per week and utilize the carrier's fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft.
The aircraft can carry 180 passengers on each journey, meaning a total of 1,440 seats will be available every week.
Flight AV188 will depart Bogota at 7:30 a.m. local time and arrive in Texas at 1:20 p.m. local time. Flight AV 189 departs Dallas at 2:50 p.m. local time, arriving in Bogota at 8:15 p.m. local time. Travelers can now purchase seats on these flights through the airline's website and mobile app.

"We are excited to give travelers a new way to reach Bogota from Dallas, adding to our 21 routes between the U.S. and Latin America during peak seasons. Bogota is undoubtedly a vibrant destination, rich in history, culture and fascinating places to explore," he added.
The South American capital is a distinctive travel destination with its unique architecture, museums, cathedrals and local cuisine. Over 3 million international tourists visited Colombia in 2022, according to Statista—more than in pre-pandemic years.
American Airlines already operates flights from Texas to Bogota daily.
Aviance, founded in 1919, is the largest airline in Colombia and is building its fleet to offer customers flights to more than 180 destinations, the airline says.
The airline's new route adds to its existing U.S. operations. Avianca flies to and from New York, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, D.C., and Orlando.
The airline also operates a route from Colombia to Toronto, Canada, as well as a number of flights to other South and Central American destinations in Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Mexico, Ecuador and Brazil.
Avianca announced in late 2024 that it would introduce more business class options for customers, offering the new upgraded seats for flights to and from New York, Miami, Boston, Washington, D.C., and Toronto.
